This past June, Global Neuro held its first seminar in the Republic of Korea at the Mokpo Hankook Hospital. Developed for everyone involved in the management of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI), this overbooked event brought together 68 neurosurgical specialists, as well as neurotrauma specialist nurses and related medical staff from all of the country’s major trauma centers.
Learning from the best
Chaired by Kum Whang, Se-Hyuk Kim, and Bo-Ra Seo, this seminar provided the theoretical basis and principles for managing traumatic brain injury and for making proper decisions in complicated cases. Lectures and case studies were presented by a team of leading international, regional, and local faculty experts including Geoffrey Manley, Paul Manson, Guo-Yi Gao, Stephen Lewis, and Young Soo Park, among others, and incorporated the latest techniques, devices, and procedures. Face-to-face interactions enabled the participants to ask questions and share experiences.
Participants especially enjoyed the 3-D Anatomical Principles session led by Stephen Lewis. This provided participants doing surgery with a concrete overview of the important structures in the very complex anatomical area of the head. The special consideration lectures, covering topics including worst cases, TBI in elderly and pediatric patients, as well as the management of penetrating TBI where very valuable to participants.
Event booths by DePuy Synthes and Becton Dickinson provided more information about the latest medical technology available for improving the delivery of care.
Everyone involved in the seminar was highly satisfied with its outcome.
Global Neuro looks forward to its upcoming educational events being held in Austria, Malaysia, and Canada later this year, as it continues its aim to improve outcomes for neurological patients around the world.
