Global Neuro offers unique educational experience at ICRAN this summer in Naples

Global Neuro will take the world stage for two events at the International Conference on Recent Advances in Neurotraumatology (ICRAN), June 20–22, 2018, in Naples,Italy, under the auspices of the European Association for Neurosurgical Societies.

In parallel with ICRAN, Global Neuro will offer a pre-congress course and two of its leading faculty members will chair an intra-congress session, Meet & Talk, focusing on traumatic brain injuries (TBI). As the international scientific forum of the Neurotraumatology Committee (NTC) of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS), ICRAN creates a platform to exchange knowledge and provide solutions to improve neurotrauma care worldwide.

Global Neuro’s pre-congress course

The June 18-19 pre-congress Global Neuro Essentials Course—Neurotrauma, chaired by Maurizio Iacoangeli (IT) and Andres Rubiano (CO), will feature an international faculty of neurosurgical experts. Covering the current best strategies and considerations for managing neurotrauma patients, the course is based on competencies defined in Global Neuro’s curriculum.

The content will be delivered by comprehensive lectures concentrating on the understanding of core material as well as interactive case presentations to further deepen this knowledge and enrich the discussion in trauma management. Practical sessions will teach the application of Global Neuro principles to the management of common injuries; case-based discussions will link the lecture material and practical skills with the clinical problems encountered in clinical practice.

This course is a unique opportunity to experience the Global Neuro Essentials course; seats are limited, so early registration is encouraged. To learn more and to register, please visit: https://www.globalneuro.org/event_details/96

Meet & Talk

The session will cover such topics as surgical management of severe TBI in low and middle-income countries, minimally invasive and precision neurotrauma surgery, lessons learned from multicentric clinical trials, and the role of decompressive craniectomy in neurotrauma. The case discussion session will cover cases in minicraniotomy under local anesthesia and monitory sedation for operative treatment of acute extradural hematoma, surgical treatment of post-traumatic cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) leaks of the anterior cranial fossa, long-term outcome after TBI in elderly patients and access to neurosurgical care across Africa.

Among the faculty members participating at these events are Christian Matula (AT), Peter Hutchinson (GB), Andrew Maas (BE), Rocco Armonda (US), Amos O Adeleye (NG), K Vaughan (US) and Franco Servadei, M Del Maestro, A Lombardo, Francesco Biroli, Paolo Gritti, Angelo Pompucci, Corrado Iaccarino, Luca Longhi, Massimo Scerrati and Claudio Bernucci (IT).  For additional information, please visit: https://www.icran2018.it/
