Global Neuro’s Shelly Timmons takes office as AANS President

During the 86th annual scientific meeting of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) in New Orleans (US), Global Neuro’s Shelly Timmons, MD, PhD., FAANS, officially took office as 2018–2019 president of the AANS. She is the first female neurosurgeon to hold this position and the second women to serve as president.

Timmons is a professor in the department of neurosurgery at Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, vice-chair for administration, and director of neurotrauma for the department. She is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery (ABNS) with additional certification in neurocritical care from the Society of Neurological Surgeons (SNS) Committee on Advanced Subspecialty Training (CAST). In addition, she is part of Global Neuro's international faculty and one of its founding members.

Shelly Timmons specializes in neurotrauma and neurocritical care, and she has been a researcher and educator in the field for 20 years.
